History

 Our History

In the late 1800’s Pleasant Grove Camp Ground, located at Durant Florida was established by the Methodist Denomination.  Methodist camp meetings were held twice a year, in May and October.

In the early 1900’s the camp began having regular church services, and soon after joined the Assemblies of God.

In 1926 Pleasant Grove Church and Camp Ground became the Headquarters for the South Florida District of the Assemblies of God (The Peninsula Florida Council of the Assemblies of God). During the time of Camp Meeting each year, many people would put up shelters or tents and some even built cabins to live in. Over the years many of those small cabins became homes to retired ministers.

The original Tabernacle was razed in 2004 and a new building is under construction.
